Welcome to my Blog! Tattoos and Pearls

Updated: Aug 28, 2024

It is my great honor to share my story for people like me who have had to create their own path. Coming from another country at such a young age, I grew up being in a world I didn't quite understand, didn't quite belong, but I learned how to survive.

Throughout my early years, I learned English as a second language, translated for my parents and paved my own path. I learned along the way and I figured it out. I became resourceful, reserved and kept my head down for the most part to avoid being a target, staying safe and live another day.

Although I was quiet, I had a knack for learning. My teachers quickly saw me as an agreeable child so I was teachable. I learned early on that listening to my elders would bring me acceptance and so I did this in school too. In my elementary years, I had mostly A's, perfect attendance, made honor roll listings almost every quarter. Even with that, I was still quiet and reserved, but stood out in academics.

After school, as a pre-teen, I played volleyball every day at my neighborhood park with adults. There I learned to be a team player and began my competitive edge. I loved the sport and would not miss a day. I dedicated so many hours that I played varsity during my freshman high school year.

Whether I was playing a sport or focused in school, I always managed to achieve a high level of success. I later carried this wisdom into my adult years with continued education, a drive for excellence and maintained dedication. This is how I go from the back to the front in anything I do.
